Águas de Lindóia–The Thermal Capital of Brazil

 

Located 180 km away from São Paulo, capital of São Paulo State, and 133 km away from Viracopos Intenational Airport, at Campinas, Águas de Lindóia is known as Thermal Capital of Brazil, because of it’s medicinal waters.

Explorers and troopers already practiced thermalism in our hot water to cure their wounds.

In 1913, Doctor Antônio Tozzi, borned in Italy, came to Águas de Lindóia surprised by the cure of an eczema in his uncle’s leg, priest at Lindóia, and built a small office in here. In 1920, there was already a scientific research about the radioactive water in the region. The fame of the water was beyond Brazil’s border. Doctor Tozzi died at 67 years old, in 1937, and in the next year, “Thermas de Lindóia”, as the place was called, got its political-administrative emancipation. Águas de Lindóia arose, then.

The city offers, besides the source water, uncountable tours surrounded by nature. Rural tourism is one of the qualities of the city’s attractions. Águas de Lindóia is like paradise, privileged by nature. And it is located around the biggest groundwater of the country: 60% of the mineral water distributed in Brazil, comes from here.

The Municipal Spa

The Municipal Spa offers over 40 services among baths, massages, mineral water pools, Scottich shower, clay bath, all in a pleasant area, surrounded by greenery and beautiful gardens designed by landscaper Burle Marx.

Fountain São Roque

One of the best baths you can try is the Stangerbad Bath, it renews muscle strength. This bath is recommended for the treatment of arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, muscle spasm and neurological disorders.

Besides physiotherapy baths, there are spa baths and aromatherapy:

  • French Lavender - It has a relaxing and rejuvenating effect, helping against insomnia, stress, anxiety, hypertension, muscle pains, arthriyis and tendonitis.
  • Pearls Bath - luxurious bath with minerals and urea. Helps regulate the skin's water balance, increasing moisture and decreasing the loss. Also
  • Ylang-ylang - Aphrodisiac, Depression, Apathy, Menopause, PMS and hormonal balancer. In Indonesia it was used to cover the bed of newlyweds with flowers of ylang-ylang, to inspire a great night honeymoon.
  • Clay Bath - Rich in iron, sodium, potassium and silicon, Clay has become important in aesthetic treatments.

Águas de Lindóia still offers bealtiful landscapes at Adhemar de Barros Square, downtown. A wonderful place to take a walk, read, relax and date! You can also take a paddleboat ride, do city tour by train or city tour by horse and buggy and taste chewing gum icecream.

At Cristo Redentor, located at the top of Morro do Cruzeiro, and also from the top of Morro Pelado, the highest mountain of the region, you can see the whole town.
